Pharmacology
It encompasses research that studies natural and synthetic compounds with pharmacological potential, involving planning and synthesis, obtaining and studying the actions of these compounds using bioassays (in vitro, in vivo, ex vivo) aiming at characterization and establishment of its potential applications.
Physiology and Morphology
Aiming to expand knowledge about the structure and function of organs and systems and to study the mechanisms involved in the pathophysiology of different diseases, using in vivo, in vitro and ex vivo techniques, the lines of research in physiology and morphology assess everything from morphofunctional parameters, expression and activity of receptors and enzymes, to cellular and molecular signaling in different experimental models.
Genetics
This line includes research in human, plant and microorganisms genetics. With lines of research focused on cytogenetic and cytochemical studies, evaluation of genetic and molecular toxicity of physical, chemical and biological agents, analysis of polymorphisms associated with diseases, genetic studies focused on plants and microorganisms, and evaluations using bioinformatics.
